I have received my instructions from a number of NL artists but I became serious in 1992, 1993 and 1994 during private lessons from a very well-known and award winning artist and teacher, Barbara Dorey, from her studios in Halifax and Morden, Nova Scotia. From Barbara I learned  charcoal, pastel, and oil and all the laws concerning light and shadow, together with drawing. I have been successful in receiving a honourable mention in one of my entries in the NL Arts and Letters Competition as well as having two pieces of my work purchased by the NL Government. My fascination for painting began as a child and my favourite medium is pastel. I particularly like painting flora and fauna and have done many portraits as well. I have had five very successful solo exhibitions and have also participated in many others. I enjoy drawing and painting and the struggle to be the very best that I can be.
